My web design journey....
This is my own private space to create and explore new ideas as I develop my skills as a web designer. I view webdesign as a craft, one in which I continue to learn new things every day. I am always looking for new ideas, tips, and tutorials to help me master the art of web design. My audience is me, myself, and I -- this is my test area to try things out. If you stumble across these pages, may you find some ideas and tips while you visit.
This is an example of an iFrame.
My web design journey began back in 2002. I started making websites in order to learn how to make websites. I started by creating a one page site of my favorite links. One of my earliest sites was a memorial site for my mother. I have learned so much since that time, but the site obviously was and is a sentimental favorite. My son was fortunately able to travel to France in both 2005 and 2006 and I created sites to prepare for and document both trips. I was thrilled to accompany him the second time, which helped ignite my interest in photography.
I started making websites for my work in the Anchorage School District, eventually working on our department web page. Through the years I have taught many classes for teachers and often had custom sites created for various classes. A turning point was being part of a team that helped create an educational site for the National Park Service in Alaska.
In January of 2005, I started my own company, Sajoba LLC, doing web design work as well as training and consulting in educational technology. In 2007 I retired from teaching to devote myself full time to my web design work and my work as an Apple Professional Development trainer.
Although I wear two different professional hats, I find there is a great deal of overlap in both arenas of my professional life. I have web clients all over Alaska and my work as a traveling trainer benefits my web design work. Good design principles are just as important in web design as creating professional presentations for the classroom.
I also find that I just plain love creating web pages. I am working on a personal project right now which combines my love of web design and genealogy. It is password protected and only accessible by family members, but here is a photo. I created a hierarchy of pages by generation and as I research individual family members, I create an historical record of my ancestors.
